A Rare Cultural Experience at Yamamoto Noh Theater, a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan

Yamamoto Noh Theater, the oldest Noh theater in Osaka, has a history spanning nearly 100 years and is designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan. In addition to performances of Noh, Japan’s traditional performing art, we offer a variety of programs including Noh appreciation classes and hands-on Noh workshops.

Our Noh experience workshops and theater tours are especially popular with first-time visitors and are widely used for school trips, international student programs, and recreational activities.

The theater is also available as a “special space for hospitality” for private parties, conferences, concerts, and exhibitions. We offer tailored proposals that can include Noh performances or workshops, traditional cuisine, and more, according to your preferences.

We offer a variety of experience plans tailored to your needs.

For example, we can accommodate requests such as:

・See Noh masks.
・Step onto the actual Noh stage.
・Try chanting (utai).
・Wear a Noh costume.

COURSES

Noh Experience Workshop & Theater Tour

A captivating course combining hands-on Noh experience with a behind-the-scenes tour. Enjoy an introduction to Noh and its stage, view authentic Noh masks, and try your hand at Noh performance. You’ll also explore the backstage area and view the large resonance jars (kame) located beneath the stage.

Fee: ¥6,600 per person (Group size: 10 to 200 participants)
Fee: ¥66,000 per group (Group size: 1 to 9 participants)
Duration: Approximately 80 minutes (may vary depending on group size)

・Utai Experience: Available to all participants
・Suriashi Experience: Up to 10 participants per group (requires white tabi socks; conducted on stage)
・Costume Experience (wearing only): Up to 3 participants per group (requires white tabi socks; conducted on stage)

・Tabi socks are required for the suriashi and costume experiences. The cost of tabi rental is included in the participation fee.
・Depending on the areas toured, you may be divided into smaller groups.
・The session duration may be slightly extended depending on the number of participants.

Noh Experience Workshop Course

After an introduction to Noh and the Noh stage, along with a presentation of Noh masks, participants will enjoy hands-on Noh activities.

Fee: ¥5,500 per person (Group size: 10 to 200 participants)
Fee: ¥55,000 per group (Group size: 1 to 9 participants)
Duration: Approximately 60 minutes

Noh Theater Tour Course

This course includes an introduction to Noh and the structure of the Noh stage, followed by a backstage tour.

Group size: 10 to 100 participants
Admission fee: ¥2,200 per person
Duration: Approximately 30 minutes
